The magic

Paste any link.
Hugo does the rest.

Drop in a recipe from a short-form video, a web page, or just a URL on your clipboard. Hugo watches the whole video — and reads the creator's pinned comment, where the real recipe often hides — to pull every ingredient, step and timing, and saves the whole thing to your cookbook in seconds.

  • Works with short-form videos, web pages, and any pasted URL
  • Watches the video, not just the caption
  • Reads the pinned recipe comment
  • Extracts ingredients and steps automatically
  • Keeps a link back to the original source
  • Your private library — never indexed, never sold
In the kitchen

Questions

The usual stuff.

What is Hugo, really?

Hugo is a recipe app for people who collect recipes everywhere — Instagram Reels, TikTok, food blogs, cookbooks — and want one place that holds everything, lets you adapt it, and helps you cook it. Hugo (the mouse) is also the name of the AI sous-chef baked in: ask him to swap an ingredient, scale a recipe, or make it vegan.

How does importing work?

Paste a link or use the iOS Share Sheet from Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, or any food blog. Hugo reads the post or page, extracts the ingredients, steps, and timings, and saves a clean version to your cookbook — with a link back to the original.

What can I import from?

Instagram Reels and posts, TikTok videos, YouTube videos (with descriptions or captions), and most recipe websites. If something fails to extract, you can paste the text directly and Hugo will organize it for you.

Is Hugo free?

Yes — the whole cookbook, favorites, collections, adapting recipes, and manual recipes are free forever. Pro adds unlimited imports and unlimited Hugo chats across your whole library.

Is my data private?

Yes. Your cookbook is private by default. We don’t index it, we don’t sell it, and we don’t scrape it for training. You can delete your account and all your data at any time.

Android?

Not yet. We’re iOS-first while we figure out the cooking experience. Drop your email below and we’ll let you know when Android lands.

Can I cancel Pro?

Anytime from your iPhone’s App Store subscriptions. You’ll keep Pro until the end of your billing period, then drop back to Free — your cookbook stays exactly as you left it.

Does Hugo watch the video, or just read the caption?

Hugo watches the whole video and reads the creator’s pinned comment — where the real recipe often hides — not just the caption. That’s how it pulls every ingredient, step, and timing, even when the post barely describes the dish.

How is Hugo's agent different from other apps' AI?

Most recipe apps stop at saving and organizing, and the few with AI just run one-shot tricks. Hugo is a real agent you can iterate with — it knows your cookbook and your preferences (allergies, diet, even cooking skill), so you can swap ingredients, scale servings, plan dinner from your saves, and adapt anything just by asking.

Is there a hands-free cook mode?

Yes. Tap Cook and Hugo walks you through the recipe one step at a time, with big glanceable text, per-step timers you start with a tap, and tap-to-convert units. You can ask Hugo a question mid-cook without losing your place.

Can Hugo build a shopping list?

Yes. Add any recipe — or a whole week of them — to your shopping list in a tap. Hugo groups everything by aisle and merges duplicates across recipes, so you shop once and forget nothing.

Can I share recipes with friends?

Yes. Send any recipe with a link and your friend opens it right in Hugo — ingredients, steps, and your tweaks included — to cook, adapt, and save as their own.
